well after having always having wanted a beardie and all you guys tempting me with yours, i finally pulled the trigger. bought most everything today. still need a hide and something for it to climb on/bask. so in the next few days i'll be setting everything up, getting temps dialed in... then pick out our new lizzard! Jaws seems to be even more excited about it than me. this is also a segway. she is terified of snakes, but i warned here in the beginning there will be one down the road. i'm really looking forward to this. it's been close to 10yrs since iv'e had a reptile.

Nice... be careful with some of those starter kits. They use those coil UVB bulbs. they are known to cause eye problems.

The compact florescents are the ones know to cause eye issues.

I would recommend a ReptiSUN (not GLO) Tube light. I bought a 24" one and just put it in a light ballast i had left over from a fish tank. You can also get cheap under counter lights from walmart 18",24" whatever and just put in the reptisun bulb. You wanna mount these INSIDE the tank, screens and glass filter out UVB. The fixtures from walmart can easily be mounted with 3M Command Hooks. The tube should cover 1/2-2/3 of your tanks length.

LOL yah honestly those start kits should not even be sold. They come with alot of useless stuff and usually bad info from the people selling them.

The screen on your tank is going to filter out more than 50% of your UVB.
