I have to buff some scratches from the move. Its hard to get because the water is pretty dark and the light reflects off everything in the room. Now that I can upload them...I will try to get some better pics of the fish.

looks nice.

If you get a single point light source you can mimic the shimmer effect with all the surface movement you have...it'll look more like a river

Here are couple old videos when I had my old 180g running with a lot of surface movement (over 6000GPH) with a 70W MH light..

Kind of hard to see it with the camera but in person it looked great.

No plans to add a rhom....I think that has been shown many times it wont work.  I dont believe this kind of tank has been tried.

Thanks dude....doing that now.  220 pics being backed up...lol.

I thought Wayne had a successful cohab with rhoms awhile back and some others. I dont know if they did it for long or now. I just remember seeing pics of Wayne's setup where he had a rhom some pygos and then some cichlids and other fish. This is from 14-16years ago though I believe.

I talked to him about that tank...it didnt last long.  He did have his big rhom with a large buttikoferi....might still be going on.

Lost a little cariba.  Found his head yesterday.  Looked like it happened a few days ago.

Still rolling along with 4 cariba, 2 nattereri (1 moved to a wolf fish tank), 4 geryi, and 2 irritans.  really minimal skirmishes.  Will be adding some more species as they become available.

Cool stuff man!! So the original geryi have all survived? And a sanchezi or two died? Did you, at one time, mention a possible west coast connection for these fish? I'm curious because I maybe moving to Prescott Arizona within the year.

Pretty much.  I have lost 3 fish...if I remember right....to predation.  2 sanchezi and 1 cariba.  The other fish I lost were a cariba for no reason I could find and a maculatus whos fins melted during shipping and I found him on the powerhead.  I do have an importer I use but he wont ship to illegal states.

Quick update.  Nothing has really changed much other then a few weeks ago I found a 6" nattereri at a lfs who had great shape to him....so I decided to pick him up.  I added him and he was getting picked on a bit but nothing that seemed out of the ordinary.  he found a spot along side some driftwood so I figured he would be fine.  Well yesterday I found him flipping around...eyes cloudy...and what looked like ammonia burn on his side.  Looked like he had been stuck in shipping water for a long time. I believe it was all stress related as none of the other fish seem to have issues.  Put him in a hospital tank but he didnt make it.

I think this tank is finished as far as adding fish.  They are pretty territorial...but seem to be doing fine as a group.  So I have the 3 geryi, 4 cariba, 2 nattereri, and 2 irritans.  If I had added a Serrasalmus I would have expected some kind of issues but I figured another Pygo would just kind of blend in.  Nope.
